Other Stuff, Odds & Ends

We’ll keep adding stuff here that just don’t fit in other sections

[Prices are for the first 30 days' rental].

To figure out the extended price for any item, follow this link - ordering

Z39 – CAPTAIN’S HOOK - this fully fight-worthy weapon is made from the strongest steel available.  These come with a left handed grip, allowing for sword fighting with the right hand. – [$15.00]

Z54 - LEVER-ACTION BANG RIFLEWho's Afraid of Virginia Wolf requires a gun that shoots out something. For the original Broadway version in 1962, they used one of the parasol guns left over from the 1959 musical Gypsy. (People think that Edward Albee specifically requested that the gun fire an American flag. Not so. The production merely rented the nearest thing available.) Unfortunately, the barrel diameter was so large that the shotgun looked ludicrous. We feel that our rifle looks more realistic. A simple catch on the barrel releases the flag.  Work/prop.   [$34.80]

Z55 - SPORTING RIFLE BANG GUN  -  Works just like the above Z54, but many clients wanted a generic modern rifle look. We really like it, and think you will too. Prop only.  [$34.80]

  Z40 - HANDCUFFS - standard [$2.40]

Z41 - TRICK RELEASE CUFFS - far safer for the actor and less expensive to rent. Not as sturdy as the standard, so tell the actor not to thrash about. [$1.00]

Z43 - LEG CUFFS - used for dangerous prisoner transfer. Requires key. [$10.00]

Z47 - KEYLESS MANACLES e - Finally, we have something useable for "Deathtrap", or any other show requiring an easy way for the actor to get in and out of old-time shackles. Pull a simple tab to close and open.  [$10.00]

Z48 - KEYLESS LEG IRONS e - same design as the Z47 but with larger cuffs for shackling the ankles.  [$10.00]

[not pictured] Z46 - KEYLESS NECK HALTER -  Hinged bands for easy fitting around the neck, but also large enough for use as leg shackles when the character is wearing boots. [$7.50]

    Z49 - GAOLER’S KEYS – in a variety of key ring diameter sizes, 3" (normal), 5"(a bit much) and 7"(huge). [$3.50]

Y21 - POWDER HORN – in actual horn or also decorative cast metal. [$3.00]

Y22 - CAVALIER POWDER FLASK – not practical; prop only replica of the powder flask seen in Europe during the 17th century.    [$5.40]

    Z99 – PISTOL CASE - varied – each is different. [$15.00]

H41 - WHIP – here’s a good rule of thumb: if you are renting a whip, it means you don’t own one, which means you don’t know how to use one, which means that you are going to hurt yourself if you try to crack the whip. Please don’t. [A whip "cracks" when the end goes faster than the speed of sound. It comes back at your face pretty fast, too.]    6 foot (which means after the fall and cracker is nearly 8 feet. If that phrase is gibberish to you, you don't know enough to handle a whip.) - $14.00   [for flails, click this link ]

Y58 - FISHING NET -  5 ft square. For those gladiatorial combat scenes.    [$3.00]

Y77 - BARBER’S STROP - rhymes with "hope", yes this is the leather strap to hone the straight razor. [$6.00]

Bows

Even if you aren’t planning to shoot with the bow, be careful of who has access to it. A simple dull stick fired from a weak bow can pass through the human body. Although there is no explosive in a bow and arrow, please remember that this is as dangerous as a firearm. Of course an arrow travels more slowly than a bullet, but because of the greater mass, it can cause far more damage. Someone hit with a rubber tipped arrow can die.

first 3 arrows - no rental charge, then 30 cents rental for each subsequent arrow

Z74 – WELSH LONGBOW – limited availability. Made of wood, just under six feet tall. 60 lb. draw strength. [$30.00]

Z72 – LIGHT SPORTING BOW – 15 lb draw strength, about 38 inches tall.  [$9.00]

Z71 – EARLY RECURVE BOW – not practical, prop only. 33 inches  [$13.80]

Z73 – MODERN SPORTING BOW – 20 lb draw strength using double pulleys and integral quiver (as shown, the right side of the picture is the top of the bow, so the arrows are held pointing up   [$17.40]

Z76 - STANDARD CROSSBOW - no moving part. 35 " long, 23" span on the bow (although we also have one or two that are a bit shorter) - prop only [$20.00]

Z77 - FIRING CROSSBOW - crossbows fire a bolt, not an arrow. CAREFUL! Even blunted bolts are deadly when fired from a crossbow. Quite a powerful 50 lb draw.  20 " long, 17" bow span   [$33.00]

Z83 - ARBALEST - which was just the Continental term for the crossbow. This does actually fire and is the largest of the crossbows we carry - the wooden stock is 33 inches long and that bow has a 38 inch span. A light 15 lb. draw Compared to the firing crossbow above. [$55.00]

Z79 - QUIVERS and ARROWS – in natural leather [$10.00] ; varied arrows can be included @ 30 cents per arrow       (first 3 arrows - no rental charge)

NOTE: for less than half the above rental price, we still have some plastic quivers for SALE. Only $4 each. Check out our Attic

Z33 - "BRASS" KNUCKLES – each is individually made, so no two are alike, and are made of steel, not brass. [$7.50]

Y43 - FENCING MASK – although these are high-quality "3-weapon" masks, stage combat tends to get sloppy and unsafe when the actors put on the masks too early. If necessary as part of the costume, give them to the actors only after the fight has been set. [$19.20]     or buy one starting at only $35! Follow this link - MASKS

Y47 - MEDIEVAL HELMET – in black steel with an adjustable liner, reminiscent of the early Norman style, but with a bit more security for that nose-guard.   [$11.35]

Y07 - GAS MASK – these actually work, but the eye lenses get fogged very quickly. [$13.20]

Y24 - IMPALED FX STRAP - very simple, just a threaded plate on a reversed shoulder harness. We have a few false knives and arrows that are threaded and can screw into place. It won’t work as an onstage stabbing, but works well enough in certain situations.

strap w/ arrow - [$6.00] strap w/ knife - [$17.00]

Y51 - BANDERILLA – part of the colorful bullfight paraphernalia, we built some for productions of Carmen. [$5.00 ea.]
